Time for my art drop here on dA. I haven’t posted anything new here in years, so expect a steady stream of older art in the next few days

Tonight I venture into the world of painting (with acrylics, rather than Photoshop). I hit the local Michael's art/craft store and picked up some mid/low level painting supplies, and I'm going give it my best shot.

:iconsimonhayag: and :iconedwarddrawsstuff: are going to show me the ropes and hopefully I won't screw up so bad that I never want to continue with it. I figure if I really want to learn, I gotta hang with some crazy skilled guys and have them show me what I'm doing wrong right away. that self-taught business is for ActionScript and Web Design. (kidding, obviously)

I was really doing a lot of artwork digitally in 2009, and thinking that was going to be much easier, I was really getting into the flow of it. But this year I've been doing a lot more drawing and inking with pencils and brushes again. I've also been using brush pens (I want to pick up the Pentel brush pen) because they're much more convenient. I do a lot of artwork in front of the TV, catching up with Tivo'd shows now, and since my computer is in another room, I've just been breaking out the real tools and drawing away.

But I do want to start doing more digitally again, since I don't really do color stuff traditionally. However I still want to do more with custom toys, sculpting, and stuff like that, so this is going to be a fun year.

In other news, I'm also gearing up for the Palladium Books Open House 2010. It's going to be a blast! tons of fans, all of the Palladium staff and a bunch of us freelancers hanging out for the weekend just enjoying all aspects of role playing games. I'll be using all pencil and brush pen there, so no digital ;)

Things 'round here are getting pretty crazy. I've been working on Halloween costume parts for my boys (my youngest is going to be Wolverine, and my oldest is Gambit), doing some extra doodles on top of commissioned pieces I've got to finish (well, more like get on my brother's case to finish), and on top of all that, we're coming up to the finish line at work. The Global Gaming show is the big show we prep for every year (the only time of the year that I wear a suit and tie). Anyway, I haven't been able to get much art done, but things should shift again next month when we're back on a regular project schedule.

There are a few things on my list of stuff I want to try (art-wise, not like sky diving or MMA fighting or anything crazy like that). I still haven't dug into my colored pencils that I got as a gift a while back. I want to mess around with some markers again. My Daredevil Munny is still half finished and staring at me every day.

One step at a time, though. :o

Big month...

1 min read
I'm sitting here with a ton of stuff on my todo list, and I've been really productive getting all the little things done that keep piling on. Thankfully I was able to just hit this streak of productivity because things just kept popping up that needed to be addressed, so I was able to take care of business before it got out of hand.

Anyhoo, I've been wanting to do more 100% digital artwork (msynowicz has an awesome tutorial on his digital inking method in Photoshop that really piqued my interest initially). I picked up Freddie Williams' book "The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics" and I've been planning on doing some freelance stuff using that book as an aid.
